Steven

My name is Steven.

I am 28 years old.

I am Imperfectly Perfect.

I was born with pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum and a hypoplastic right ventricle. Life with a CHD is far from easy. I learned at a young age the harsh truth that life is never guaranteed, but that never stopped me. I began to focus on the beauty of life, love, and the simplicities that surround us and lift us up daily. For me, the biggest struggle was coming to terms with my scar. I was often ashamed and embarrassed of it, and rarely took my shirt off in public. After my last open heart surgery in 2015, I realized that I had truly been through a lot more than the average person, and that people recognized this and looked up to me in awe. It was then that I fell in love with my scar. It is proof of what I have been through. I am now able to share my story openly and inspire every person I encounter, because everyone is Imperfectly Perfect. We are all amazing.
